An investigation into how a Catholic priest accidentally showed gay porn images to primary school children has proved “inconclusive”.
The probe was launched last month after Fr Martin McVeigh projected the images on to a screen during a meeting for parents in Pomeroy during a presentation at a school in Co Tyrone.
Parents said 16 indecent images of men were displayed during a Powerpoint presentation.
The priest said he had no knowledge of the offending imagery and did not know how the material came to be on a memory stick plugged in to his laptop computer.
The incident occurred during a meeting at St Mary’s School in Pomeroy on March 26.
Last night, around 50 parishioners were allowed into a meeting to hear a prepared statement in which the initial findings of the investigation were presented.
A spokesman for the Catholic Church told the Belfast Telegraph: “A meeting took place in the Parish of Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, between parents and representatives of the Archdiocese of Armagh.
“The outcome of the meeting was inconclusive. There will be a further meeting at a time, date and venue to be confirmed by the
parish of Pomeroy. Father Martin McVeigh, at his own request, has asked for temporary leave and Cardinal Sean Brady, Archbishop of Armagh, has agreed to this request without prejudice to any of the parties involved. No further comment will be issued at this time.”
Last month Cardinal Sean Brady — head of the Catholic Church in Ireland — said the PSNI had indicated that no crime had been committed.
“The priest has stated that he had no knowledge of the offending imagery,” the Cardinal said.
“The archdiocese immediately sought the advice of the PSNI who indicated that, on the basis of the evidence available, no crime had been committed. The priest is co-operating with an investigation of the matter on the part of the archdiocese.”
None of the parents were available for comment last night.
But a statement released by the parents in March said that the priest had become visibly shaken and flustered when the images flashed up on the screen.
One parent said: “He gave no explanation or apology to the group and bolted out of the room.
“The meeting continued in his absence, however, the parents who viewed the pictures were horrified and distracted.
“Twenty minutes later he returned and continued with the meeting.”

Nick Gruber & Clavin Klein

NEW YORK – Calvin Klein’s special male friend Nick Gruber was arrested for cocaine possession in New York this morning following an altercation with another man  … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement tells us … the 22-year-old model — who used to work in gay porn — was busted at his home at 4:58 AM after someone called 911 to report Nick punched a 20-year-old man in the face.
When cops arrived to the scene, officers say they observed a cut on the victim’s face … and arrested Nick for misdemeanor assault. Cops say Nick resisted by “flailing his arms in the air.”
Cops say they noticed Nick suspiciously reaching into the front of his pants … so they conducted a strip search back at the station … and discovered cocaine on his person.
Nick is now facing 3 criminal charges — including assault, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
We’re told Nick is still in police custody at the station.
According to multiple reports, Gruber and Klein “dated” for nearly two years before taking a “break” back in January … though Klein has not publicly addressed the relationship.

CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA – Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Tuesday dismissed as “disgraceful” an opposition claim that she was making light of sexual harassment by allowing the parliamentary speaker to hold his job while facing allegations that he pressured a staffer for sex.
House of Representatives Speaker Peter Slipper stepped aside Sunday while police investigate allegations leveled by a former staffer that Slipper misused taxi payment vouchers while traveling by limousine in Sydney this year.
The staffer, James Ashby, 33, is also suing Slipper in the Federal Court for sexual harassment, alleging that Slipper only employed him as a media adviser in pursuit of sex. Slipper, 62, who is married with two adult children from a previous relationship, denies all the allegations.
Opposition leader Tony Abbott has said both the criminal investigation and the civil case should be resolved before Slipper returns to the speaker’s chair.
Gillard “is essentially making light of sexual harassment” by arguing that Slipper could serve as speaker while facing the civil charges, Abbott said Monday.
Gillard responded Tuesday in Singapore, telling reporters, “That’s a disgraceful allegation and it’s exactly what we expect from Mr. Abbott: continued negativity.”
The government argues that while senior officials should stand aside while facing criminal charges, there was no precedent for them to do so in the face of civil suits.
Government figures hope Slipper will be quickly cleared by police of the fraud allegations so that he can return to the chair before Parliament resumes on May 8. The opposition wants a no-confidence vote against Slipper, but would need support from several independents to win.
Slipper defected from the conservative opposition in November last year to accept the prestigious 324,000 Australian dollar ($426,000) -a-year job, which has limited voting rights. While he is sidelined, a member of the ruling center-left Labor Party will take the seat, effectively depriving the government of a vote in the closely balanced Parliament.
Slipper is an unwelcome distraction for Gillard’s government, which has long trailed the opposition in opinion polls. Many commentators say the government faces a crushing defeat at elections due next year.

RUSSIA – In a coming-out story to discourage many adolescent Russians from leaving the closet, a gay teenager in the Moscow region was put away in a drug clinic by his irate traditionalist father.
Ivan Kharchenko spent 12 days in the Marshak rehab facility before he was broken out by his supporters who staged an improvised siege of the facility, activist Dmitry Aleshkovsky Tweeted on early Wednesday.
Kharchenko publicly admitted his homosexuality at his 16th birthday earlier this year, Novaya Gazeta reported.
The news did not shock his classmates, but devastated some of his relatives, the report said. His grandmother tricked Kharchenko into going to a “witch” who unsuccessfully attempted to exorcize the “spirit of homosexuality” from him.
Failing magic, his father ordered the teenager to go to the drug clinic and left him there, allegedly against his will, Novaya Gazeta said.
“I’d rather have you disabled or a vegetable than gay,” the boy’s father was cited as saying by Ekho Moskvy radio.
The formal reason for hospitalization was Kharchenko’s alleged drug abuse and alcoholism, but medics failed to confirm the allegations about his bad habits, lawyer Violetta Volkova said, Ekho Moskvy reported.
Kharchenko was so drugged he was forgetting his friends’ names, Novaya Gazeta said.
However, he managed to put up an “I love you” banner, apparently addressed to his boyfriend, on his window in the rehab, though it was promptly taken down by staff, BBC Russian Service said.
Activists, spearheaded by Aleshkovsky and opposition leader Ilya Ponomaryov, a State Duma deputy with A Just Russia, staged a campaign in Kharchenko’s defense outside the clinic, insisting his placement in the rehab without his consent amounted to kidnapping.
Kharchenko was released on late Tuesday and spent the night at his mother’s, who mounted no strong objections to him being gay, Novaya Gazeta said. His grandmother refused to take him in.
Law enforcements will hold a check into Kharchenko’s hospitalization, the report said.
Open LGBT lifestyle became a hot topic in Russia after St. Petersburg legislators banned in March propaganda of such lifestyle to minors.
The vaguely-worded piece of legislation was denounced as homophobic propaganda by LGBT activists in Russia and beyond, but a bill proposing to spread the ban nationwide was later introduced into the State Duma and is pending review.
Ninety-four percent of Russians said they have never encountered gay propaganda, but 86 percent still support a ban on it, according to a poll by state-run VTsIOM earlier this month.
About 60 percent of some 750 callers at Ekho Moskvy said their offspring being gay would be a “tragedy” for them, the liberal radio reported.
